A word about buying diamonds and jewelry from the Arcadian

We are very careful about the quality of the pieces which enter our shop, and have found that the best way to serve our clients is by helping them choose quality pieces as well. Doubtless there are usually many questions when considering buying a ring or piece of jewelry, and we are happy to answer any and all questions you may have. We've tried to cover some of the common questions below - so take a minute to browse the list.

Of course, if you have any other questions, would like to discuss some of our current inventory, or would just like to talk to a person instead of reading about it on the website, we're always happy to pick up the phone and have a quick chat - call us at (734) 994-3433 and we'll give you the complete story.

Other than that, here are our most common questions relating to jewelry:

Q1: How can we guarantee quality on an antique piece of jewelry?

At the Arcadian, all our diamonds are graded by a GIA certified Jeweler and come with written appraisals which become your property when you purchase the item. These act as a guarantee of quality and assess the color, clarity, cut, and carat weight for each diamond sold - so you can have comfort in knowing that not only is it beautiful to you, but that it's valuable to the marketplace as well.

As for non-diamond jewelry, we are experts at identifying items of high quality and only include these in our store. Our name is our brand, and we have built our reputation and customer base by providing only the best items. When you visit us, we'll point out subtle things in the construction of the jewelry which are the telltale marks of high quality - so you can feel good about purchasing a piece that will stand the test of time.

Q2: What is the typical vintage of the jewelry in our shop?

We offer jewelry from many different era's, but find Victorian, Turn of the Century, Art Nuveau, and Art Deco to have the most beautiful and intricate designs. Therefore, when you visit us you'll find these types as the focus of our collections - however, we have some other pieces chosen for their own unique qualities.

You can read about the different periods and their defining characteristics here on wikipedia.

Q3: Often rings must be fit and sized to the wearer - how do we handle this?

To size and fit rings to our customers comfort we work closely with an expert Jeweler who handles all our sizing, repair, and alteration work. When choosing a ring it is important to ensure the size is correct, and this is part of the service which we provide to anyone who purchases through the Arcadian. For more information on our sizing policy, visit this page.

Q4: What types of financing does the Arcadian accept?

In order to best serve our customers, we accept all major credit cards, cash, and checks. We also offer a layaway program for 3-months at 0% interest with bi-weekly payments. If you have any questions about payment options, feel free to call our store at (734) 994-3433

Q5: For long-distance clients, how is shipping handled?

Often we are asked to ship large items purchased in our store, or smaller items purchased over the phone. Though our experience, we find it best to ship these items through the USPS in the 'Insured Registered Return Receipt' program. These require a customers signature for delivery, and are insured for the full value of the enclused product. We always wrap our items with care, and are happy to report that we have a 100% success rate on shipping deliveries!
